Disparities in terms of gender exist in various degrees within the community in West Nusa Tenggara.
Consequently, women experience unfair treatments indicated by low wages, low educational attainment,
vulnerable status of women workers compared to male workers, and less opportunity in public sectors.
National Program of Community Empowerment puts gender equality and women empowerment in
first priority within poverty eradication efforts. This paper describes factors that influence women to
participate in the program and the impacts of the program on the women household income and the
probability of women household not to be poor. Sample employed in this study consists of 70 people
of participants and 30 people of non participants. Data collected through in-depth interview are
analyzed by employing econometrics analysis consisting of logistic and liner regression analysis.
The research findings indicate that the program has not been able to improve entirely the economic
condition of participants' household. However, by participating in the program the probabilities of
households not to be poor could be increased in certain level. Therefore, many efforts need to be
taken if we wish to eradicate poverty and create a fairer and more prosperous society.
