https://e-journal.unair.ac.id/DC/article/view/49652

Background: Stunting is associated with various short-term effects such as developmental delays, decreased immune function, impaired cognitive function, and compromised metabolic systems. Furthermore, long-term consequences may include obesity, reduced glucose tolerance, coronary heart disease, hypertension, and osteoporosis. The limited understanding among healthcare cadres regarding comprehensive treatment necessitates interventions to aid in the assistance and recovery of infants identified as stunted. Objective: This activity aims to enhance the knowledge level concerning stunting among healthcare cadres. Method: The initiative will take the form of lectures, discussions, and case studies targeting 68 women from RW 07 cadres in Wonokromo Village. The stunting counseling event for RW 07 Health Cadre, Wonokromo Village, held on July 9 2023, was met with enthusiasm. Results: The presentation emphasized the significance of preventing stunting and highlighted the "1000 First Day of Life" initiative. The outreach activity effectively enhanced knowledge regarding stunting incidence, with 68 participants actively engaged, primarily comprising women aged 36 to 45 years, predominantly housewives. Conclusion: Analysis of pre-test and post-test results revealed a notable increase of 19.2%. Furthermore, the paired t-test demonstrated a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test (α = 5%).
Umi HanikBudhi SetiantoAgus Aan AdriansyahHartatiek Nila KarmilaMery SusantriNikmatus Sa'adah

https://e-journal.unair.ac.id/DC/article/view/48405

Background: Dental caries among elementary school students remain high to this day. The occurrence of dental caries is often linked to poor oral hygiene, leading to damage in the tooth's hard tissues. A promotive and preventive approach is necessary, especially for elementary school students during the critical period of transitioning from primary to permanent dentition. Objective: This community engagement program aimed to improve dental hygiene and oral health among elementary school students through education, mass toothbrushing activities, and giving topical fluoride. Method: The methodology included dental hygiene and caries examinations, followed by educational sessions, mass toothbrushing activities, and the administration of topical fluoride to protect teeth from caries attacks. The evaluation of success is determined by comparing the oral hygiene index before and after the activity. Results: The evaluation results indicate that the educational outreach and mass toothbrushing campaign have had a positive impact on improving the overall oral hygiene levels of students. The number of students classified under the "good" category has increased, while those in the "fair" and "poor" categories have shown a decrease. Conclusion: The comprehensive approach, comprising dental health education, mass toothbrushing sessions, and the administration of fluoride during this community service initiative, has proven to yield positive benefits in enhancing the oral hygiene of students.
JumrianiIra LiasariErnie ThioritzBadai SeptaAsriawalR. https://e-journal.unair.ac.id/DC/article/view/45750

Background: Physical and physiological changes in women aged 10-19 make them prone to anemia. Anemia in adolescents negatively affects cognitive, physical, and emotional development. Objective: The community service aimed to increase youth knowledge regarding balanced nutrition to prevent anemia. This activity was carried out at the Ruteng Tsanawiyah Middle School for young girls in class IX. Method: We conducted some service activities consisting of three stages namely the pre-activity stage, the preparation stage, and the implementation and evaluation stage. The activities included pre-test and post-test, measurement of body weight and height, and nutrition education. The data obtained were analyzed using the Paired T-Test through SPSS 16. Results: It was found that 57% of female adolescents had good nutritional status, 33% were undernourished, and 10% were over nourished. After education, significant results were obtained, with an increase from 54% to 86%. Conclusion: Balanced nutrition education can have a significant impact, namely an increase in knowledge.
Jayanthi Petronela JangguNur DafiqPutriatri K SenudinViviana HamatAtma Panggor

https://e-journal.unair.ac.id/DC/article/view/44724

Background: COVID-19 has significantly impacted education, resulting in low acceptance rates at universities in Taiwan and Indonesia. These low acceptance rates contribute to a shortage of human resources, which could have far-reaching consequences for the economy, education, health, and political stability. Nations with limited human capital may become dependent on foreign labor to meet their workforce needs, leading to local unemployment and heightened competition between local and foreign workers. Therefore, investing heavily in education and training is crucial. Objective: To address this issue, community services have been conducted in Indonesia to provide students with information on scholarships and technical strategies. Method: The community services were organized in several steps, including preparation, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Results: The effectiveness of the event was assessed through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. Conclusion: Through a series of scholarship webinars, it was observed that knowledge and awareness about scholarships increased, providing students with greater opportunities for securing scholarships.
Cendra Devayana PutraClara Lavita Angelina

Background: Farmers can market their crops due to the significant market share for hydroponic agriculture products. However, this presents a dilemma as the market demands a consistent supply of high-quality crops. Precise nutrient levels and controlled chemical-physics parameters are crucial considerations in hydroponic yields. Thus far, these factors have been managed manually, leading to challenges in achieving desired outcomes. Objective: This community service program aimed to address this issue by developing a real-time automated system for monitoring and controlling chemicalphysics parameters and nutrient levels via an Android application. The goal was to enhance the effectiveness and productivity of hydroponic crop harvests. Method: The program commenced with designing the system based on farmer requirements, followed by the installation and testing of equipment at partner locations. Subsequently, technical training on system features and usage was provided. Results: The system was successfully installed at Grahaponik. According to questionnaire responses, 68.4% of farmers expressed satisfaction, and 78.9% of total participants reported that the system was easy to employ. Technology installation, implementation, and dissemination to local hydroponic farmer groups were conducted. Hydroponic farmers acknowledged the user-friendliness of the devices. Conclusion: Partners' acceptance of the instruments was favorable, facilitating their ease of use and thereby enhancing the effectiveness of hydroponic farming.
Risalatul LatifahTriswantoro PutroDewi AnggraeniFaridha ApriliaMayang Bunga PuspitaLia Baroatul K
