Abstract


Introduction: Under nutrition status often occurs on under five-year old babies since their ages are easily affected malnutrition. Under nutrition babies initially will have symptoms of eating difficulties. The highest under nutrition status arose in 2013 in Public Health Center Ngletih Kediri about 8.03%. The objective of the research is to determine factors related to overcome the eating difficulties with under nutrition status in the integrated health service center of working area of the public health center Ngletih Kediri.

Method: The research is a descriptive analytical research by using a cross sectional method. The populations are mothers with under nutrition babies of 3-5 years in June 2014. Total sample is 37 respondents, based on inclusion criteria. Independent Variables are mother’s knowledge, mother’s attitude and health staff action. Dependent Variables are under nutrition babies. Data are collected by weighing under five year babies and questionare. The Data is then analyzed by using statistical test Spearman’s Rho.

Result: The research results related to overcome the eating difficulties are mother’s knowledge (p=0,009), mother’s attitude (p=0,013), and health staff action (p=0,047).

Discussion: The research conclusion is that mother’s knowledge, mother’s attitude, and health staff action overcome the eating difficulties for under nutrition babies. Based on the research, it is expected that health staff in nutrition section set up various food menus as the efforts to overcome the eating difficulties for babies.
