Focus and Scope

This journal specifically welcomes research that aims to evaluate and understand complex care interventions that use the most appropriate design and methods for interesting research questions. Journal Scope:

  • Fundamental Nursing

focuses on the knowledge that shapes the understanding of paradigms, the nursing profession, and the concepts of human growth and development and an understanding of several nursing theories.

  • Nursing Management
focusing on operational Management, Management of nursing care.
  • Medical Surgical Nursing
focusing on the concepts and principles of medical medical nursing background of the application of nursing science and technology in meeting the needs of adult clients who experience physiological changes with or without structural disorders, for example: respiratory system, cardiovascular system, digestive system, urinary system, endocrine system, tropical disease problems , innervation, musculoskeletal, integumentary systems, and male immunity and reproduction.
  • Emergency Nursing
focusing on the concepts and principles of emergency nursing given to urgent and critical patients. Emergency services not only provide services to deal with emergency conditions experienced by patients but also provide nursing care to deal with patient and family anxiety. The principle of emergency nursing management : Maintain airway and provide ventilation, do resuscitation when needed. Assess airway injuries and obstructions, Control bleeding and its consequences, Evaluation and recovery of cardiac output.
  • Community Nursing
focusing on the basic concepts of health and community nursing, health programs / government policies in addressing priority health problems in Indonesia, community nursing care and issues related to issues and trends in community health problems in the context of major health services with an emphasis on improving health, preventing disease and health care.
  • Occupational Health Nursing
focusing on the basic concepts of health and community nursing, health programs / government policies in addressing priority health problems in Indonesia, community nursing care and issues related to issues and trends in community health problems in the context of major health services with an emphasis on improving health, preventing disease and health care.
  • Mental Health Nursing
focusing on nursing efforts in primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention of clients with bio-psycho-socio-spiritual problems and mental health disorders, individual therapeutic relationships in the family context, therapeutic modalities of nursing, mental health / nursing issues and trends in Indonesia and the role of nurses and prevention of mental health / nursing problems.
  • Geriatrics and Gerontology Nursing

focusing on the concept of gerontik nursing which includes the provision of nursing care, carrying out advocacy and work to improve the ability of elderly independence, prevent and minimize disability and support the death process with dignity. The scope of service in the elderly includes:


1. Institutional-based elderly health services
2. Community-based health services
  • Family Nursing
focuses on the concept of family nursing which includes the role of the family describing a set of interpersonal behaviors, traits and activities related to individuals in certain positions and situations.
  • Maternity Nursing
focusing on understanding the concepts and theories of maternity nursing and government policies in improving the health of women of childbearing age, pregnant women, mothers of birth, mothers after childbirth, and their babies up to 40 days in normal conditions and their families.
  • Pediatric Nursing
focusing on optimizing child growth through a comprehensive approach to solving biopsychosocial problems in a healthy range of illnesses and acute, chronic and life threatening conditions.
  • Nursing Education
Nursing education includes instruction in topic areas. These are nursing assessment, nursing diagnosis, and nursing care planning. In the United States, nursing students learn through traditional classroom and lab instruction. Nursing education also involves clinical rotations and simulation, throughout their schooling, to develop care planning and clinical reasoning.
  • Nursing Ethics
Bioethics, Clinical Ethics / Clinical Ethics, Nursing Ethics / Nursing Ethics
  • Nursing Law and Policy
Covering all aspects related to health (physical, spiritual and social health as a whole)

Peer Review Process

- The editorial team has the right and policy to publish or reject articles that have been submitted. Articles that do not pass the publication selection will be returned to the author.

- The editorial team, through peer-reviewer, will review and provide suggestions / recommendations / assessments of each accepted text. The results of the study will be communicated to the author of the article and then corrected and reviewed by peer-reviewer.

This journal utilizes the LOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.


Publishing Fee

Authors whose articles are published will receive a Letter of Acceptance and must pay a contribution of Rp. 300,000.00 (three hundred thousand rupiahs) in Publish costs.

The Journal of Vocational Nursing (JoViN) require a formal written declaration and transfer of copyright from the author(s) for each article published. We, therefore, ask you to complete and return this form, retaining a copy for your records. Your cooperation is essential and appreciated. Any delay will result in a delay in publication.

Review Process

Step 1

  • The reviewer first confirms to the editor about whether the reviewer is willing to review the manuscript. Confirmation is given after examining the abstract of the manuscript or manuscript itself, by clicking on the file name in Step three.
  • If not willing, the reviewer clicks on the "Unable to do the review" option which will continue to the standard e-mail option to the Editor, where the reviewer can revise the confirmation, if desired, and the reason why he cannot do the review process (for example: time constraints, constraints interest, and lack of scientific reviewer, etc.).
  • If you are willing to do a review process. Reviewers who are willing to do a review can click "Will do the Review", which will open an email entry to the Editor, and indicate to the Editor and Author that the review process is ongoing.

Step 2

  • If you want to consult with Reviewer Guidelines, these instructions can be found at the bottom of the "Review page". Reviewer instructions have been prepared by the Journal Editor to ensure that the Review is as clear as possible to the Editor and Author

Step 3

  • After the author uploads the manuscript in data format, reviewers can download the manuscript from the journal site to the computer by clicking on the name of the manuscript. Manuscripts can be opened or stored on a computer before they are opened, using common programs such as Word or Acrobat. Manuscripts can be printed or read from a computer screen. Supporting material, such as research data, research instruments, or reference texts, which are related to the manuscript can be uploaded as the accompanying submission of the manuscript.

Step 4

  • Reviewers click on the Review icon and display with two Review text boxes where the results of the Review can be entered by typing or pasting: one for the Editor and Author, and one only visible to the Editor. Reviewers can enter the part that will be pasted into the two boxes and click the save button at the bottom of the form to go back and make changes later. Reviewers can return to make changes until a recommendation on the main page of the Review is selected, which when it indicates that the Review process has been completed.
  • Note: Journal Manager, as a conjunction with the Journal Editor, can create a special Review form that is expanded to fill in this section. Information about this can be found in the Review Guide. This form can be returned and edited until the recommendation has been selected.

Step 5

  • Reviewers also have the option, in addition to adding reviews, to upload files addressed to the Editor / Author for viewing. This file can be a review-annotated version of the submission of a manuscript or some relevant data that will help the Editor and / or the Author. Regarding whether the file will be shown to the author will be the policy of the Editor, but the Reviewer can directly provide comments on the manuscript reviewed (Step 4).

Step 6

  • Reviewers are required to choose a recommendation to submit a manuscript between the following options: Accept, Revisions Required, Resubmit for Review, Resubmit Elsewhere, Decline Submission, See Comments. When a reviewer clicks "Submit Review to the Editor," I will go to the e-mail prepared in the Editor section, while making the paper accessible for the Editor's Recommendation. Reviews that have been saved (at this point will be automatically locked) to upload files. Email can be edited by Reviwer before sending.


Peer Reviewers Process

In the reviewing process, there are at one reviewer for each manuscript for the related topic. Judgement from the first reviewer will be the main priority on which the editor will make their decision, if there are only two reviewers. Three weeks will be needed for reviewer to complete one round of the reviewing process.

Generally, the candidate of the reviewers will be chosen based on their reputation in the international publication number and the study quality. For the next step, the editor sends an invitation letter to each candidate of the reviewer. After the candidate of the reviewer has been informed of their availability for the reviewing process, the editor can create an account for each reviewer and then send manuscript by OJS.

All of the reviewing process is done by way of a blind review and is managed by the editor in OJS.



To avoid plagiarism, all submissions are screened using Turnitin before undergo the review processes. Plagiarism-free  works should match these requirements:

1. Writing that quoting writings of others (by quoting indirectly) that has been well paraphrased, by making one’s own words, instead of performing copy and paste or typing the source word-by-word, and write down the reading sources according to the rules of scientific writing.

2.  Writing with the direct quotation, by quoting the same words as the original copies should apply quotation marks (for writing that less than 40 words), or if the quote consists of over than 40 words, the paragraphs should be notched and apply different font size.

3. Mentioning the source other people's ideas that are being used, whether from published or unpublished writing, both oral or written source, in any form of media


Publication Ethics

Journal of Vocational Nursing provides a forum for original research and scholarships relevant to nursing and other health-related professions. Journal of Vocational Nursing is a scientific peer-reviewed nursing journal which is published biannually by the Faculty of Vocational Universitas Airlangga, Indonesia, in collaboration with the Indonesian National Nurses Association, East Java Province.

The journal particularly welcomes studies that aim to evaluate and understand the complex nursing care interventions which employ the most rigorous designs and methods appropriate for the research question of interest. The journal has been publishing original peer-reviewed articles of interest to the international nursing community making it one of the longest standing repositories of scholarship in this field.


Peer Review
