Journal History

The establishment of the Program Studi Diluar Domisili (PDD) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) campus in Banyuwangi was initiated by the Banyuwangi Regency Government, which requested that the Ministry of Education and Culture (Mendikbud) provide opportunities for new universities in Banyuwangi. Through the Ministry of Education and Culture's mandate number: 274/E/O/2014 dated July 24, 2014, finally, the PDD UNAIR Banyuwangi was officially established.

As the development of the education bureaucracy in Indonesia has changed the name PDD to become a Program Studi Diluar Kampus Utama (PSDKU) in a constitutional manner. During the past 3 years, the need for scientific information on the PSDKU campus and the communication access of scientists was limited to access to outside journals.

Based on the many research results of both students and lecturers from the Banyuwangi District Government grant, the Grant Research and Technology Center, the Grant of LPI Universitas Airlangga and the Program Kreativitas Mahasiswa, in 2017, PSDKU coordinator established an internal journal management team under the name Jurnal Medik Veteriner (JMV) to accommodate results through this link. thought, research, and patent both students and lecturers of Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine. Now JMV has been growing and has a commitment to improving the quality of journals to become national and international reputations by being indexed by various credible publications institutions.

JMV has been accredited by the Directorate General of Research and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Republic of Indonesia Number: 28/E/KPT/2019, effective since September 26, 2019.

In 29 August 2023, The Scopus Content Selection and Advisory Board (CSAB) considered JMV to index in Scopus. This recognition further strengthens JMV as a reputable journal, used in global databases and has an impact factor on veterinary research.

Regarding the improvement of journal quality and accreditation suggestions, since February 2019 JMV has collaborated with the Indonesian Veterinary Doctors Association (IVMA) in the process of reviewing, publishing and disseminating publication information. JMV also changed the structure of the editorial board by collaborating with scientists from Gadjah Mada University, IPB University, Udayana University, the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN), the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia and partners from abroad, i.e. Bhutan, Japan, India, Pakistan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei Darussalam, Turkey, Italy, Brazil, Canada, Nigeria, and Australia. The partners have a history of collaboration with the chief and assistant editorial board with proven research indexed on Scopus. This collaboration aims to attract opportunities for researchers from abroad and between domestic institutions to publish research articles in each issue of the JMV.

JMV continues to improve quality by conducting seminars for researchers to submit articles through the OJS system. Several JMV articles have been cited by indexed journal Scopus. In the future, JMV is projected to increase an impact factor for ESCI, Thompson and Scopus indexed research.
