SCOPING REVIEW

Background: Mandibular condyle fracture has 69% prevalence of

maxillofacial fracture among adolescents and 45% prevalence

among adults. There is still currently no consensus between non-

surgical and surgical treatment to fix condylar fracture. Hence, this

review aims to compare the outcomes of surgical and non-surgical

management of mandibular condyle fracture. Material and

Method: This review was done by searching Scopus database for

case reports released between 2014 and 2024 that described either

surgical or non-surgical treatment on cases of adolescent mandibular

condyle fracture Result: A total of seven reports are included in this

review. Four papers reported non-surgical management with good

results. Three papers reported surgical management also

demonstrated ideal results. Conclusion: With proper assessment

and planning and comprehensive understanding of condyle and its

surrounding tissue's anatomy, non-surgical and surgical approach

are equally viable options for the management of condylar fracture

cases in adolescents.
