Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format. Do not submit paper in Pdf.
  • There are at least 15 references (80% from scientific reseach and 20% from another source such as books, websites, and or regulations, non-governmental organizations, etc). If it is possible, please add an URL or DOI for each reference. All references must be connected to Mendeley using Vancouver Style.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point (Times New Roman) font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points and not more than 6 in number.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

Author Guidelines

a. Submissions Article

Submissions must be original work and have never been previously published. Research manuscripts are preferred. This should be proved by sending the Author's Statement through email jbk@fkm.unair.ac.id . The chief editor will not process the author's submission (whether in e-mail or in the OJS submission menu) unless this statement letter is attached. A paper that uses primary data must include ethical clearance that is also uploaded in supplementary files.

b.   Title:

  • Consists of 8-18 words that describe the article.
  • Written in 2 languages (Bahasa Indonesia and English) if submitted in Bahasa Indonesia
  • Use UPPERCASE letters.

c. Abstract

Written at a maximum of 250 words, written in one paragraph, continued by keywords (consists of 5 words or phrases). The abstract contains background, writing purposes, discussion, a little summary of the result, and a conclusion. Submissions from research must include the research method and the output. Abstract and keywords are written in two (2) languages, Bahasa Indonesia and English.

d.   Manuscript content:

  • Manuscript content contains the following part: Introduction, Method, Results, Discussion, Conclusion and Suggestions, and also References. 
  • Relevant to the need for learning processes in biostatistics, demographics, reproductive health, and health information system.
  • Closely related to/relevant with the authors' mastery background, either theoretical writing, methodological writing, research summary, or scientific book review.
  • Considering the content objectivity and scientific rules.
  • The editors consider 4000-8000 words to be preferable in article length. The length of the manuscript should not exceed 8000 words, including text, all tables and figures, notes, and appendices intended for publication. A manuscript that exceeds the 8000-word limit will be returned without review.

e.   Writing Technique:

  • Manuscript written in essay format, no numbering between chapter/part is allowed.
  • Tables and graphs should be referred to in the discussion.  
  • Make the tables or graphs as simple as possible (there is a maximum of 6 figures and tables on paper). The table should contain the table number, title, note, and information if needed (write the abbreviation and source below the table). Use only horizontal lines, vertical lines are not allowed.
  • Do not use bullet and numbering
  • Do not use footnotes
  • Do not writes page number
  • Instead of using points, the conclusion and suggestion is written in paragraph format
  • Referencing style for this journal follows the Vancouver style. Using Mendeley Application.
  • Do not use from more than 10 years mark for the source.

f.   Author:

  • The author's name should be spelled consistently. An academic degree is not necessary.
  • The author's fully responsible for the manuscript content. Please also mark the Corresponding Author
  • Attaching Ethical clearance and statement letter (stamp of 10.000) in Supplementary File (for Primary data).
  • Submission must be adjusted with this journal referencing style (reference citing, don't use a footnote and bullet and numbering, systematics, illustration, table, etc).
  • Submitting the manuscript could be in Bahasa Indonesia or English and abstract written in two languages (in English and/or Bahasa Indonesia). Typed in MS Word, font type is Times New Roman 12, spacing 1 in 10-12 pages of A4 paper.
  • Signing a statement letter that states submission is not under consideration or peer review or accepted for publication or in the press or published elsewhere. The manuscript should not be submitted to another journal during the review process by JBK reviewers.
  • Signing a statement letter that submission is plagiarism-free and fully obeys the citing rules (the author did not copy-paste, but paraphrase)
  • Submitting the manuscript to Jurnal Biometrika dan Kependudukan, Division of Biostatistics and Population Studies, Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Airlangga, Jl. Mulyorejo Kampus C Unair, Surabaya 60115, Indonesia. 
  • After the article has received the agreement to be published, authors are requested to give a contribution to the journal's maintenance and development.  
     

g.   Editor:

  • The editor reserves the right to edit the articles without changing the content and authors' idea
  • An editor will return the non-proper article
