PEER REVIEW PROCESS
Initial Screening
All submitted manuscripts will first be reviewed by the editorial assistant to ensure they are complete and to assess whether they meet the journal’s general requirements based on the following criteria:
1. Manuscripts must align with the journal’s scope.
2. Submissions must follow the journal’s author guidelines.
3. The title should be concise no more than 15 words.
4. List the full name of each author with affiliation details: department, faculty, university, city, and state.
5. The abstract (maximum 300 words) should briefly and clearly summarize the core content.
6. Include 3–5 keywords for indexing purposes.
7. Manuscipt must include Introduction, Methodology, Results, Discussion, Conclusion, followed by Acknowledgments, and References.
8. Articles should have minimal 20 recent references.
9. Use the appropriate citation style for all references.
10. Figures and tables should be relevant, high quality, and provide meaningful information.
11. Number all figures in order using Arabic numerals, each with a descriptive caption.
12. Number tables sequentially and provide clear titles.
13. Use MS Word’s built-in equation editor or MathType for all equations.
14. The manuscript should not exceed 7000 words (including references).
15. Submissions must be written in English and should be clear and fluent.
The editorial team will decide whether to: (a) send the manuscript for single- or double-blind peer review, (b) request revisions before review, or (c) reject the submission. The corresponding author will be notified of the initial decision within 7 working days via email.
Peer Review
The Critical Medical and Surgical Nursing Journal receives submissions from health or nursing research area, especially critical, medical, and surgical nursing. All articles received will be published publicly and will be freely available to all readers with worldwide visibility and coverage.
In the review process, there are at least two reviewers for each script for the related topic. Submitted manuscript will be subjected to a double-blind peer-review to assess the originality of the topics and its contribution to the body of science, soundness of theory and methodology, analysis coherences, and communicability to the readers. The double-blind peer review process means that both reviewer and author identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process. The review process is done by at least two independent peer-reviewers. In the case of two independent peer-reviewer have opposing decisions, the third peer-reviewer will be asked to review the manuskrip and his/her decisions will be final for determining whether the manuscript is accepted or rejected. Time allocated for the third peer-reviewer is approximately 10 days. The whole process will be approximately 10-12 weeks.
Revision after Peer Review
Authors must revise their manuscripts based on the reviewers’ feedback and respond to all their comments in a cover letter. Any changes made should be clearly indicated. The revised manuscript should be submitted via website in MS Word within four weeks. After resubmission, the academic editor may send the revised manuscript back to the reviewers for further evaluation or may independently decide to accept, request further revisions, or reject the manuscript based on their own expertise.
Acceptance Letters
Following the revision process, manuscripts that meet the required standards will be approved for publication. Acceptance notification will be issued to the corresponding authors within seven business days via email.
Copyediting
Copyediting process marks the final step in the editing process. The editorial team will carry out a careful and efficient review of all accepted manuscripts. Authors will receive the proofs for final approval, giving them an opportunity to make any last checks before publication. Proofs must be reviewed and returned within seven days; otherwise, they will be considered the final version.
Publication Notification
Once the article is made available on the journal's website (early access), a publication notification along with links to the article will be sent to the corresponding author. Additionally, the corresponding author will be informed when the journal issue containing their article is officially published.
PUBLICATION FREQUENCY
CMSNJ is published twice a year in March and September.

Critical Medical and Surgical Nursing Journal (CMSNJ) is free of submission charge and article processing charge (APC).

This Journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

ARCHIVING
This journal utilizes the CLOCKSS system to create a distributed archiving system among participating libraries and permits those libraries to create permanent archives of the journal for purposes of preservation and restoration.
MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION AND PUBLISHING
Manuscript Submission
The permissible manuscripts are written in Ms Word format. Images, illustrations, and figures included in the manuscript file. The submission of manuscripts directly on the CMSNJ website.
Manuscript Publishing
A qualified manuscript is determined by the Editorial board after obtaining a recommendation from a peer reviewer. Revision of the script becomes the responsibility of the author, and inappropriate scripts will be returned to the author.
PLAGIARISM STATEMENT
This journal does not accept any plagiarism in any manuscripts or it will be rejected immediately. To avoid plagiarism, all submissions are screened using Turnitin before undergo the review processes. The manuscript is passed if the similarity is not more than 20%. However, the final decision regarding plagiarism in this journal abides to COPE.
Plagiarism-free works should match these requirements:
- Writing that quoting writings of others (by quoting indirectly) that has been well paraphrased, by making one's own words, instead of performing copy and paste or typing the source word-by-word, and write down the reading sources according to the rules of scientific writing.
- Writing with the direct quotation, by quoting the same words as the original copies should apply quotation marks (for writing that less than 40 words), or if the quote consists of over than 40 words, the paragraphs should be notched and apply different font size.
- Mentioning the source other people's ideas that are being used, whether from published or unpublished writing, both oral or written source, in any form of media.

Submission to CMSNJ (Critical Medical and Surgical Nursing Journal) starting from Volume 10, Number 1 (2021) must include the ORCID ID of at least one of the authors.
