THE EFFECT OF EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND ON THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF THE PRE-ELDERLY POPULATION

Pre-elderly is an age group in a transitional stage between productive and old age. Aging or old age is an event that occurs in humans naturally. The readiness of the pre-elderly population is the key to realizing welfare and quality of life in the later stages of old age. This relates to an educational background that affects a person's quality of life. Previous research has studied a lot about the condition of the elderly population in various disciplines and still minimally studied the readiness of the pre-elderly population. Therefore, this research was conducted to examine the quality of life which refers to educational indicators within the framework of human resource development. This study aims to measure and analyze the effect of educational background on the readiness of the pre-elderly population to enter old age. The research method used is a quantitative method. Samples were obtained using a purposive sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire on 310 pre-elderly residents. The data analysis used in this study was the median K independent sample test, the Tukey test, and the ordinal regression test using SPSS version 20 and STATA version 17 software. The calculation results show that there is a significant relationship between educational background and the quality of life of the pre-elderly population in Kelurahan Timbangan Kabupaten Ogan Ilir, it was 7.16%.
