PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All manuscripts submitted to JUXTA must follow Focus and Scope and Author Guidelines of JUXTA. The submitted manuscript to this journal must be written in English. The manuscript must not have been published or submitted for publication elsewhere

Peer review process in JUXTA uses a double-blind review method, which means that both reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, by at least 2 independent peer-reviewers. The article review process usually takes an average of 8 – 12 weeks. This review period depends on the editors' and reviewers' duration in reviewing the manuscript.

In the case when two independent peer-reviewers have opposing decisions, the final decision will be taken by the Editor-in-Chief.

The practice of peer review is to ensure that only good manuscripts are published. It is an objective process at the heart of good scholarly publishing and is performed by all reputable scientific journals. All manuscripts in JUXTA follow the procedures as shown below:

PROCESS 1

  1. Confirm the availability of a manuscript submission on the website.
  2. If readily available, download the original and supplementary documents (consisting of a cover page and authorship).

PROCESS 2

  1. The original document is subject to a Turnitin plagiarism check conducted by the assistant editor. It is necessary to request the supplementary file through email if it is not included by the author. In the interim, the assistant editor will archive the supplementary document if it was included by the author. Meanwhile, the assistant editor will archive the supplementary document if it was included by the author.
  2. Checking the quality of the manuscript content (based on guidelines for authors of JUXTA).
  3. Establishing a checklist for pre-review to determine whether the manuscript is following guidelines for authors of JUXTA.
  4. Send back the pre-review to the author for revision and request a cover page (if none), tables, and images in jpg/jpeg format with HD quality for layout needs. Note: If overdue, remind the author daily.
  5. Prior to sending the manuscript to the reviewers, the editorial team will determine whether to accept, reject, or revise the manuscript if the author has submitted revisions.

PROCESS 3

  1. SECTION EDITOR looks for reviewers. The SECTION EDITOR usually already has their reviewers, but if the SECTION EDITOR has difficulty choosing reviewers, it can be helped by looking at the reviewer recommendations that the author provides in the form of a cover page.
  2. The review process must include a minimum of two peer reviewers.
  3. Monitor the correspondence between SECTION EDITOR and reviewers to help remind reviewers if SECTION EDITOR forgets or has other matters.
  4. Upon completion of the review process, SECTION EDITOR returns the manuscript to the author for revision (ensuring that two peer reviewers have completed their evaluations beforehand).
  5. Confirm that the reviewer has filled out the review form provided by SECTION EDITOR, as this form will be used to upload data to the website.
  6. Following the author's revisions, the manuscript is resubmitted to the reviewer for verification of its comprehensiveness by SECTION EDITOR.

PROCESS 4

  1. The assistant editor sends the manuscript to the editor for a decision regarding its suitability for publication, the need for additional revisions, or complete rejection. This is determined through an internal meeting of the JUXTA editorial team and the editor's evaluation of the manuscript.
  2. If the manuscript needs to be revised again, assistant editor will send the manuscript to the author by email.

PROCESS 5

  1. Accepted manuscripts will be edited by the copyeditor.
  2. Manuscripts are proofread by professional proofreaders and then sent back to the author for revision.
  3. Afterwards, the manuscript goes through the process of layout based on JUXTA layout template, galley changes to PDF files, and create reference links within the PDF contents.

PROCESS 6

The JUXTA Team and the author conduct a final review to verify the manuscript prior to its publication.

PROCESS 7

If the manuscript does not require revision, it will be published according to the publication schedule.

JUXTA is published twice a year, every January and August.
