Journal History
Jurist-Diction is a peer-reviewed law journal established in 2018 under the Faculty of Law, Universitas Airlangga. Initially launched as a print publication in A4 format, the journal was published six times annually—in January, March, May, July, September, and November. It was originally conceived as a platform for undergraduate law students to exchange ideas and engage in scholarly discourse on a wide range of legal issues.
From its inception, Jurist-Diction has focused on publishing high-quality manuscripts addressing domestic, regional, and international legal matters, with particular emphasis on doctrinal legal research. In the same year of its founding, the journal transitioned to an online publishing model using the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform and secured its electronic International Standard Serial Number (e-ISSN).
As part of its development, Jurist-Diction introduced updated author guidelines and standardized article templates. The journal adopted Mendeley as its reference management tool and implemented the OSCOLA (Oxford University Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities) citation style, with necessary adaptations to accommodate the citation of Indonesian legal sources.
Beginning with Volume 3, No. 1 (2020), the journal introduced a revised article template to enhance consistency and formatting quality.
As of Volume 4, No. 4 (2021), Jurist-Diction adopted a new copyright policy, allowing authors to retain full copyright of their published work without restrictions.
Starting with Volume 5, No. 1 (2022), the journal’s publication accessibility is governed by the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY), enhancing the openness and dissemination of scholarly work.
From Volume 5, No. 3 (2022), Jurist-Diction achieved national recognition through accreditation at SINTA (Science and Technology Index) Level 4. The certificate of accreditation is available for download on the journal's website.
Beginning with Volume 6, No. 1 (2023), each issue publishes only 10 selected articles, aligning with the journal’s strategy to improve the quality and indexing level in accordance with SINTA requirements.
Starting from Volume 8, No. 1 (2025), the journal was published quarterly—in January, May, and September—and accepted articles in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.
As of Volume 8, No. 2 (2025), Jurist-Diction has implemented significant changes to refine its editorial focus and enhance its operational framework. The journal is now published three times annually and accepts submissions exclusively in English. Maintaining its status as an open-access, peer-reviewed journal, Jurist-Diction continues to engage a global community of scholars and practitioners. In line with its commitment to accessibility and quality, the journal has also adopted a new manuscript template to ensure greater consistency and clarity in formatting.
