Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission files are in the form of Microsoft Word for manuscript and cover title, and in the form of PDF for originality statement.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses an 11-point font; and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring Double Blind Review have been followed
  • The author must upload Cover Title and Originality Statement on Supplementary Files

Author Guidelines

Before submitting, authors must read the Author Guidelines, and follow all the instructions.

Preparation Submission Guidelines

  1. Manuscripts sent to http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/ must be the result of collaborative research by lecturers and students in the fields of Islamic Economics, Islamic Finance, Islamic Social Finance, Islamic Business and Management, and Islamic Accounting.
  2. The composition of authors must consist of at least one lecturer and one student, and the first author or correspondence writer can be a lecturer or student
  3. Author(s) is required to fill out an Originality Statement Form that states the author is willing to publish their manuscript in  and states that the manuscript is the result of collaborative research by lecturers and students, and has never been published in any other scientific journal. The originality statement must be signed by the lecturer and student and must be sent in a PDF file format (Appendix 1).
  4. Every manuscript must have at least one author who has an ORCID ID. If the author has no ORCID ID, the author(s) must register at https://orcid.org/register
  5. Make sure that the manuscript does not include the name and identity of the author. The author's name and identity are only written on the title cover
  6. Documents that must be prepared prior to the submission process are the manuscript (Appendix 2) in MS WORD format file, the Cover Title (Appendix 3) in MS WORD format file, and the Originality Statement (Appendix 1) in the PDF format file
  7. If the author does not have an account at Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah Teori and Terapan, the author must first register as a writer at https://e-journal.unair.ac.id/JESTT/user/register. The author should complete the form as detailed as possible especially the form with star marks (*) denotes a required field. After all form textboxes are filled, click on the "Register” button to proceed the registration.

Online Submission Guidelines

Before making an online submission, please read the following guidelines below, and the details on how to online submission, please open this link: Online Submission Guidelines for Authors

  1. The author should first login as Author through the following address: https://e-journal.unair.ac.id/JESTT/login
  2. After login, the Author will be brought to the online author submission interface where Author should click on "New Submission”. In the Start of a New Submission section, the author directly goes to step one of the five-step submission process”. The following are five steps in the online submission process:

    Step 1 - Starting the Submission: The author must check-mark all the submission checklists.

    Step 2 – Uploading the Submission: To upload a manuscript to this journal, click Add File button or upload file hyperlink, which opens a choose file window for locating the file on the hard drive of your device then choose the file, and click the open button. When the manuscript file (MS WORD format) has been uploaded, please select the kind of file for each upload with click other hyperlinks in the bellow manuscript file name, and selecting the "Article Text” option. Then upload the Originality Statement file (PDF format) and Cover Title file (MS WORD format) as supplementary files, with click Add File button, choose the file on your device then click the open button. When the file has been uploaded,  please select the kind of file for each upload with click other hyperlinks in the below file name, and selecting the "Other” option. To continue to the next step, click Save and continue button.

    If the originality statement and cover title were forgotten to be uploaded when uploading the manuscript, the author can upload them in the discussion section by clicking ‘add discussion” after all the online submission process finished.

    Step 3 – Entering Submission's Metadata: In this step, the manuscript title and abstract must be filled by copying the text and paste in the textbox with star marks (*) denoting a required field. The language of the manuscript title and abstract which are filled in the textbox depends on the main language of the manuscript. Then the author(s) metadata should be entered including the marked contributor role. Click Add Contributor button to add other author metadata. To revise the author metadata click the Edit button in the below author name. Then click  Save and continue button to continue to the next step.

    The correspondence author (principal contact for editorial correspondence) does not have to be the first author. The other role of the author are author and include this contributor in browse lists.

    Step 4 – Confirmation: Your submission has been uploaded and is ready to be sent. You may go back to review and adjust any of the information you have entered before continuing. When you are ready, click "Finish Submission".

    Step 5 – Next Steps:  The journal has been notified of your submission, and you've been emailed a confirmation for your records. Once the editor has reviewed the submission, they will contact you.

  3. After this online submission, Authors who submit the manuscript will get a confirmation email about the submission. Therefore, Authors are able to track their submission status at any time by logging in to the online submission interface. The submission tracking includes the status of the manuscript review and editorial process.
 

After Submission Guidelines

Pre-Review Process

  1. The Editor will perform a Turnitin test on incoming manuscripts. The maximum allowed plagiarism limit is 20%. The results of the Turnitin test will be uploaded by the Editor in the discussion section. If the Turnitin result is more than the specified limit, the manuscript will be rejected.
  2. The Editor will check the completeness and review the quality of manuscript and its supplementary files (manuscript, cover title, and originality statement) with the template and provisions set by Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah Teori and Terapan. If the documents are lacking or the manuscript does not comply with the Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah Teori and Terapan template and provisions, it will be rejected and or the author is asked to carry out the manuscript submission process from the beginning.
  3. The Editor will review the the manuscript within 1-2 weeks after the manuscript is sent by the author. If the manuscript is deemed appropriate by the Editor, the Editor will provide suggestions for improvement. The Editor's suggestions for improvement are summarized in the Editor Correction Form which will be uploaded by the Editor in the discussion section. If the manuscript is deemed inappropriate by the Editor, the manuscript will be rejected by the Editor.
  4. The author is required to send the revised manuscript requested by the Editor within 1-2 weeks after the Editor sends suggestions for improvement. The revised manuscript must be uploaded together with the Editor Correction Form which has been responded by the author in the discussion section.
  5. The revised manuscript sent by the author will be checked for compliance with the Editor's suggestions for improvement. If the revision of the manuscript is considered to be in accordance with the Editor's suggestions for improvement, the manuscript will be sent to two reviewers in accordance with the field of manuscript review. If the results of the editor's evaluation of the revised manuscript state that it is not in accordance with the Editor's request, the author is obliged to make revisions to the manuscript again

Review Process

  1. The reviewer will review the manuscript within 2-3 weeks from the time the manuscript is sent by the Editor to the reviewer using the double-blind peer review system method.
  2. If the manuscript is deemed fit for publication by the reviewer, the reviewer will provide suggestions for improvement to the author. Comments and suggestions from reviewers will be summarized by the Editor in the Reviewer Correction Form. The Reviewer Correction Form and other additional files needed for manuscript revision materials will be uploaded by the Editor in the discussion section.
  3. If both reviewers state that the manuscript is unfit for publication, then the manuscript will be rejected by the Editor. If one reviewer considers the manuscript unfit for publication, the Editor will ask a third reviewer to review the manuscript. The review results from the third reviewer will be the basis for the Editor's decision to reject or accept the manuscript.
  4. The author will carry out the process of improving the manuscript according to the review results from the reviewers within 1-2 weeks. Manuscripts revision resulting from the author are uploaded in the revision or discussion section together with the file Reviewer Correction Form which has been responded by the author.
  5. The Editor will check the suitability of the author's revised manuscript with the suggestions requested by the reviewers. If the results of the editor's evaluation still contain discrepancies with the reviewer's suggestions, the author will be asked to make revisions again
  6. The Editor will conduct a final Turnitin test on the manuscript before the manuscript enters the copy-editing stage. If the results of the Turnitin test on the manuscript exceed the specified limit, the author will be asked to make revisions to the manuscript again
  7. If the author has finished making improvements to the manuscript according to the reviewer's request and the results of the Turnitin test on the manuscript do not exceed the specified limit, the Editor will proceed the manuscript to the editing stage
  8. The author will receive a Letter of Acceptance (LoA) when the manuscript has entered the copy-editing stage

Post-Review Process

  1. The entire manuscript publication process at Jurnal Ekonomi Syariah Teori and Terapan uses an online system, therefore the author must always check the progress of the manuscript process on the author's account or check the email which is the correspondence between the author and the Editor
  2. If the author does not respond to communications from the Editor either through the author's account, email, or other communication media for more than 3 months, the Editor will reject the author's manuscript. The author can re-submit the manuscript like the process of submitting the manuscript at the beginning of the first time

Writing Guidelines

  1. The manuscript should not be more than 8,000 words or between 15-16 pages (Times New Roman 11 font) on A4 paper pages (210 x 297 mm).
  2. Top, bottom, right, and left page margins 1” and single space. The author's identity is sufficient to be written only on the title cover document.
  3. The manuscript is written in Bahasa Indonesia or English which is good, clear, straightforward, and concise. When the manuscript is written in Bahasa Indonesia is obliged to refer to Ejaan Bahasa Indonesia yang Disempurnakan (EYD) guidelines, please check https://ejaan.kemdikbud.go.id/
  4. The systematic discussion in the manuscript at least consists of the following parts:
      1. Title

        The title of the manuscript must be made different from the title of the research report (Thesis/Thesis/Dissertation/Research Results). The title must be written in a straightforward and informative manner, namely in the form of an effective phrase (not a sentence), specific, short, clear, interesting, not contain acronyms, and describes the contents of the research and the main findings. Consists of a maximum of 14 words, written in using Capital Case and Bold. The title is written in Indonesian and English

      2. Author's Name and Affiliation

        The author's name is written in full without a title, with a single space, and the last name cannot be abbreviated. The number of authors is at least 2 people and must consist of lecturers and students with the first author being a lecturer or student. The correspondence author does not have to be the first author. The author's affiliation is written in full with the name of the institution (not abbreviated), the city where the author's institution is located, and the country where the author's institution is located

      3. Abstract

        The abstract is presented in one paragraph, written in English and Indonesian, using Italic letters, a minimum of 100 words and a maximum of 200 words and Single Spacing. The abstract must contain research objectives, research methods and design, research findings, conclusions, and implications of research results. The abstract describes the essence of the entire text and is presented in a concise, clear, intact, complete, and there may be no references to literature, tables, and figures, and.

      4. Keywords

        Keywords are in the form of phrases or words or a group of words that reflect the contents of the manuscript, or important terms in the manuscript, and may not be an abbreviation of words or city names or company names. Keywords must be standard words that reflect the contents of the manuscript. Keywords must consist of 4 keywords

      5. Introduction

        The introduction must clearly describe the phenomenon under study, the urgency of the research and the research motivation for the study. The introduction section must describe the research gap analysis, state-of-the-art research, research novelty, statement of research objectives, and research contribution. Presentation on gap analysis and state-of-the-art research must be based on a literature review of at least 15 articles with publications of at least the last 5 years which must be included in the introduction as part of the formulation of gap analysis and state-of-the-art.

      6. Literature Review

        Presenting a theoretical framework (grand theory) based on a review of the literature which is a logical basis for developing hypotheses or research propositions and research models (if deemed necessary). Present the formulation of the hypothesis or proposition if any

      7. Research methods

        Describes the research method approach used and the reasons for choosing this approach, the empirical model, the variables used along with the measurement and operational definitions of the variables, the selection method and data collection procedures, as well as data analysis techniques. If the research uses a qualitative approach, it is necessary to disclose units of analysis, participants/key informants, data collection techniques, data validation techniques, and data analysis techniques.

      8. Results and Discussion

        It is divided into two parts, namely results and discussion. The research results section presents the results of research data analysis and explains the conclusions of research findings based on the results of data analysis and research objectives. The discussion section describes the analysis of the research findings by providing an explanation of the meaning of the research findings and providing arguments for the research findings. The discussion must also contain an explanation of the linkage of research findings with the state-of-the-art and research gaps that have been determined in the introduction section, explain the linkages of research findings with previous research, and explain the linkages of research findings with relevant theories. Provide a review of the novelty of research findings and the contribution of research findings.

      9. Conclusion

        It is written in the form of flowing paragraphs, not in the form of points (point per point), and may not contain discussion and statistical results. It may not be in the form of an accepted or rejected hypothesis statement by mentioning statistical results. The conclusion contains an explanation of the research findings in accordance with the research objectives based on the results of the research data analysis. The author must explain the type of novelty of his research findings, namely the novelty of research findings in terms of theory, postulates, formulas, rules, models, prototypes, or other novelties, and explain the implications of the research findings.

      10. Acknowledgement

        In this section, you can acknowledge any support/funding given by your institution or other parties involved in the research. Furthermore, you can also specify the individual contributions of each author.

      11. References

        It Contains sources cited in the written manuscript. Only cited sources are included in this reference list. The references must contain at least 15 sources, and at least 80% of the reference composition must come from articles and proceedings, and the year of publication is the last 5 years. References are written using Reference Manager (Mendeley), with APA 7th style format, Spacing 1 (single), hanging 0.5".\

  5. Long direct quotations (more than 50 words) are typed with single line spacing with an indented style, given quotation words.
  6. Arabic font writing (العربيه) using Traditional Arabic font, size 16.
  7. Each table must have a description of the table number, table title and table source, with Times New Roman 10 font, single space. Table explanations are written in an example format: Table 1 or (Table 1). Capitalized the first letter. Tables cannot be in the form of pictures and must be re-typed.
  8. Each figure must be accompanied by a figure number, image title, and figure source (font: Times New Roman 10, single space). Explanations of figures are written with examples of formats: Figure 1 or (Figure 1). Figure titles are written in Capitalized first-letter format. Tables and figures can be written in the introduction, literature review, research methods, results and discussion.

  1. All pages including references and appendices must be numbered sequentially.
  2. In-text citations must use the Reference Manager (Mendeley), with APA 7th style format. All sources of quotations written in the manuscript must be written in the references

 

Quotation and References Guidelines

The APA in the text reference is in the format (author, date). When directly quoting from a text you must include a page number in the citation as given in the examples below. Including page numbers in all other circumstances is not required however, it is best practice to do so when referring to part of a work (eg. a paragraph or chapter in a book). When referring to an entire work that covers a single topic (eg. a journal article) it is not required.

Referring an idea
  • Anxiety and depression have been identified as more common in children and adolescents with long-term physical conditions (Dantzer, 2003; Pinquart & Shen, 2011).

OR

  • Dantzer (2003), Pinquart and Shen (2011) all state that anxiety and dexpression has been identified as more common in children and adolescents with long-term physical conditions.
Referring a quotation
  • Indeed, one researcher commented that "technological innovations have saved or extended the lives of many patients” (Lumby, 2001, p. 44).
Citing a source within a source

Where does your source quote or refers to another source, for example Unsworth refers to Halliday's previous work on linguistics, the citation might read thus:

  • (Halliday, as cited in Unsworth, 2004, p. 15)

Only Unsworth will appear in the Reference list at the end of your assignment

Reference List

Your reference list should be ordered alphabetically by author and then chronologically by year of publication. The APA 6th style requires the references to be indented as illustrated below in the examples.

For instances of multiple articles with the same authors and years of publication, please check the APA publication manual or Academic Writer. If you have the DOI for the journal article, you should include it in the reference, otherwise it is not necessary.
