Peer Review Process

Peer Review Process

Manuscripts submitted to MGK undergo a selection and evaluation process by the Board of Editors to ensure they align with the journal's writing guidelines, focus, and scope while maintaining high academic quality. The manuscripts are reviewed through a double-blind peer review process, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other. The process from submission until accepted and publication will take around 6 months.

Desk Review

In the initial desk review stage, manuscripts are assessed to verify their adherence to the journal’s writing guidelines, focus, and scope, as well as their academic quality. If a manuscript does not meet the required standards, the author may be given the opportunity to revise it accordingly. However, some manuscripts may be rejected outright at this stage.

Peer Review

Manuscripts that pass the desk review are assigned to two expert reviewers in the relevant field. The initial review process takes approximately three weeks to one month, while the entire peer review process may take at least one month per review round. If a manuscript does not pass the desk review, it will not proceed to this stage.

Reviewer’s Decision

After evaluating the manuscript, reviewers will provide one of the following recommendations:

Accepted – The manuscript is approved for publication without changes.

Accepted with Minor Revisions – The manuscript is publishable after addressing minor concerns raised by the reviewers.

Accepted with Major Revisions – The manuscript requires significant improvements, such as refining data analysis, revising theoretical frameworks, or restructuring sections before it can be considered for publication.

Rejected – The manuscript is not suitable for publication, either due to fundamental issues or substantial weaknesses.

The reviewers' recommendations guide the Board of Editors in determining the next steps for the manuscript.

Revision Stage

If a manuscript is accepted with revisions, the author will receive a review summary form outlining the required changes. Authors are given three weeks for major revisions and two week for minor revisions. When resubmitting, authors must complete and attach the review summary form.

Final Decision

The Board of Editors will re-evaluate the revised manuscript to ensure the author has adequately addressed the reviewers’ feedback. If the revisions are insufficient, the manuscript may still be rejected at this stage.

Proofreading

Once approved by the Board of Editors, the manuscript undergoes a proofreading process to ensure linguistic accuracy. Proofreading is conducted centrally by institutions recommended by MGK.

Publication Confirmation

In the final stage, the formatted manuscript is sent back to the author for a final review. The author may correct any typographical errors before confirming the final version. After receiving confirmation, the manuscript proceeds to online publication.
