Peer Review Process

The decision to publish a paper is based on an editorial assessment and peer review. Initially, all papers are evaluated by an editorial committee consisting of members of the editorial team. The primary purpose is to determine whether a paper should be sent for peer review or not, and to provide a quick decision for those that do not meet the criteria. Rejection is usually based on the novelty or relevance to the scope of the journal.

Initial Technical Editor Assessment

The Indonesian Journal of Community Health Nursing (IJCHN) aims to facilitate a swift publication process through an initial assessment conducted by the editorial committee. This assessment is intended to decide whether a paper will proceed to peer review or be rejected. The main focus during this stage is on the paper’s alignment with the journal’s scope, adherence to submission guidelines, and language quality. Occasionally, a paper may be returned to the author with a request for revisions to assist the editors in deciding whether the paper is suitable for review. Authors can typically expect a decision from this Initial Editorial Assessment within 1-2 weeks of submission.

Review Process

After passing the Initial Technical Editorial Assessment, the article will be sent to the editor. after that the article will be sent to peer reviewers. The peer review process involves at least two reviewers for each manuscript, selected based on their expertise. The review is carried out using a double-blind process, meaning that the author and reviewer do not know each other's identities. The reviewer completes its evaluation within three weeks for each review round after the review request is submitted.

Decision-Making Process

The decision to accept a paper for publication is based on the recommendations of the peer reviewers, with two acceptance recommendations required. If there is a discrepancy between the two reviewers' recommendations, the editor has the authority to seek the opinion of a third reviewer. The final decision on publication is made by the editor.
