AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Manuscript Preparation

Authors are kindly requested to select the appropriate article type before submission.

To ensure a blind review process, all author information must be submitted separately in the title page file. During the submission process, two separate files must be uploaded: (1) the title page, containing the full details of authorship, and (2) the manuscript, prepared without any identifying information. Both files should be prepared in Microsoft Word format, and templates for each are available on the IJCHN website.

All manuscripts must also adhere to the appropriate reporting guidelines for their study design, as listed on the EQUATOR Network (https://www.equator-network.org/). Authors are expected to include a statement at the end of their manuscript specifying which guideline was followed (for example: This manuscript follows the CONSORT guidelines for randomized controlled trials).

Title Page

The title page should provide complete information about all authors. This includes the manuscript title, the full names of the authors in the correct order, and their respective affiliations (institution name, address, postal code, and country). Each author is also required to provide an ORCID ID. The corresponding author must clearly indicate their email address and phone number.

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPT

Original Article (up to 7000 words)

Original articles may include quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-methods research that has not been previously published or considered for publication elsewhere. It must begin with an abstract of no more than 250 words, followed by the main text, conflict of interest, acknowledgements, funding, and references. The main text is expected to follow a clear structure consisting of introduction, methods, results, discussion, and conclusion. References should include a minimum of 25 sources, primarily from reputable international journals indexed in Scopus or Web of Science. Authors may use up to five tables or figures, each accompanied by an appropriate caption.

Review Article (up to 7000 words)

Review articles may include systematic reviews, scoping reviews, narrative reviews, or literature reviews. Authors should clearly state the type of review in the manuscript. In general, review articles are expected to provide a comprehensive and critical synthesis of evidence on a specific nursing topic, supported by a systematic and transparent method of searching, selecting, and analyzing the literature. The manuscript should describe the scope, sources of data, inclusion and exclusion criteria, and the key findings of the reviewed studies. A structured abstract is required (no more than 250 words). The main text should follow the standard format of Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, followed by a section on Conflict of Interest, Acknowledgements, Funding, and References. Authors are expected to include at least 40 references from reputable journals, with a maximum of four tables and/or figures.

Meta-analyses (up to 7000 words)

Meta-analyses should follow the same principles as systematic reviews, providing a statistical synthesis of results that includes pooled estimates of predefined outcomes, assessment of study heterogeneity and quality, and evaluation of potential publication bias. Where appropriate, meta-regression and subgroup analyses should also be included, and authors are encouraged to provide a PRISMA flow diagram or MOOSE checklist. The main text should be structured into Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, and Conclusion, followed by Conflict of Interest, Acknowledgements, Funding, and References. Authors are expected to include at least 40 references from reputable journals, with a maximum of four tables and/or figures.

TITLE

The title should describe the summary of the research (concise, informative, no abbreviations, and a maximum of 12 words).

ABSTRACT

Abstracts should be less than 250 words and should not include references or abbreviations. They should be concise and precise, providing enough information while highlighting the key points and importance of the article. In general, they should include the following:

  • Introduction: One or two sentences of background and purpose of study.
  • Method: Authors should describe the research design; settings (avoid naming the actual institution, instead describe the geographic type or provide numbers if necessary); participants (include details on the selection process, inclusion and exclusion criteria, numbers entering and leaving the study, and relevant clinical or demographic characteristics); variables; instruments; and analytic methods used.
  • Results: report main outcome(s) /findings, including (where relevant) levels of statistical significance and confidence intervals.
  • Conclusions: should relate to study aims and hypotheses.
  • Keywords: Provide between three and five keywords in alphabetical order, and they should refer to https://meshb.nlm.nih.gov/search, which accurately identify the paper's subject, purpose, method and focus.

TEXT

The text should be structured as Introduction, Methods, ResultsDiscussion, and Conclusion. Footnotes are not advisable; their contents should instead be incorporated into the text. Use only standard abbreviations; use of nonstandard abbreviations can be confusing to readers. Avoid abbreviations in the title of the manuscript. The spelt-out abbreviation followed by the abbreviation in parentheses should be used on first mention unless the abbreviation is a standard unit of measurement. If a sentence begins with a number, it should be spelt out.

ACKNOWLEDGMENT (OPTIONAL)

Acknowledgements may include support not listed under contributions or funding, such as technical help or in-kind assistance. If Generative AI tools are used, authors should clearly state the tool, version, and purpose, and confirm their responsibility for the final content.

CONFLICT OF INTEREST

Authors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest or personal circumstances that could be seen as influencing the presentation or interpretation of the research findings. If no conflicts exist, authors should state: "The authors declare no conflict of interest."

FUNDING

All sources of financial support for the study must be acknowledged, including the name of the funding institution and the grant number (if applicable).

TABLES AND FIGURES

Tables should be numbered in Arabic numerals, and captions should be brief, clearly indicating the purpose or content of each table. If your manuscript includes more than 5 tables in total, or for very large tables, these can be submitted as Supplementary Data and will be included as such in the online version of your article.
