Plagiarism Policy
All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Advanced Technology and Multidiscipline (JATM) must be free from plagiarism. Authors are encouraged to use plagiarism detection software, such as Turnitin or iThenticate, to check similarity before submission. The editorial team will also verify the manuscript’s originality using these tools. Any submission found to contain plagiarism or self-plagiarism will be immediately rejected. Additionally, the final camera-ready version will undergo a similarity check to ensure compliance. To be considered for publication, the overall similarity score must not exceed 25% (excluding the bibliography).
Plagiarism is defined as the act of using someone else’s ideas or words without proper permission, credit, or acknowledgment, whether intentionally or due to improper citation. It can take various forms, from direct copying to rewording someone else’s work. To accurately determine whether plagiarism has occurred, we focus on the following key scenarios:
1. Verbatim Copying
This occurs when an author reproduces another individual’s work—either entirely or partially—without obtaining permission, providing acknowledgment, or citing the original source. Plagiarism of this kind can be detected by directly comparing the submitted manuscript with the original source.
2. Substantial Copying
This involves the unauthorized reproduction of a significant portion of another author's work without proper attribution. "Substantial" refers to both the quantity and quality of the copied material, particularly in the context of intellectual property. The significance of the copied content in relation to the entire work determines its qualitative impact.
3. Improper Paraphrasing
Paraphrasing occurs when an author takes ideas, phrases, or sentences from a source and rewords them into new sentences. However, if the original work or author is not properly cited, this practice is considered unethical. Improper paraphrasing is one of the most challenging forms of plagiarism to detect.
JATM upholds strict ethical standards in research publication and does not tolerate any form of plagiarism. Authors are expected to ensure the originality of their work and appropriately credit all sources. Submitted manuscript will be checked using Turnitin software. The manuscript is passed if the similarity is less than 25%.
