Peer Review Process

The peer review process of the Jurnal Rekonstruksi dan Estetik (JRE) begins when authors submit their manuscripts online through the journal's official website. Prior to submission, authors are required to prepare the initial manuscript, supplementary files, author declaration, and patient consent for publication (case reports), ensuring compliance with the journal's guidelines. Submitted manuscripts undergo screening by the editor, who assesses aim and scope, novelty, plagiarism, ethics, adherence to JRE guidelines, completeness of author information, documents, and article structure. This screening process typically takes 1-2 weeks. Manuscripts requiring minor revisions are returned to authors for revision and resubmission, while those requiring major revisions are rejected.

The Jurnal Rekonstruksi dan Estetik (JRE) employs a double-blind peer review system, where the identities of reviewers and authors are kept confidential throughout the review process. At least two reviewers evaluate each manuscript based on quality content, relevance to scientific knowledge, alignment with the reviewer's field of expertise, and recommend whether the manuscript should be accepted without revisions, with minor revisions, major revisions, or rejected.

In cases where two independent reviewers provide differing opinions, the final decision will be made by the Associate Editor if minor revisions are required. For substantial or major revisions, the decision rests with the Editor-in-Chief to determine acceptance or rejection. The time allocated for the double-blind peer review process is two (2) weeks.

Following the review process, authors are given 2-3 weeks to revise the manuscript based on reviewer feedback. The revised manuscript is then sent back to reviewers to ensure all revisions have been addressed before a final decision is made. If additional revisions are necessary, the manuscript is returned to the authors for further revision until the reviewers confirm it is suitable to proceed.

Once finalized, the manuscript undergoes copyediting (1-2 weeks) and layouting (1 week) by the editorial team. After these stages, the manuscript is proofread by professionals (1-2 weeks).

The final step is the publishing process, where articles are published according to the predetermined publication schedule. The entire process from submission to publication typically takes around 8-12 weeks.
