JRE is a scientific peer-reviewed medical journal that is relevant to plastic reconstruction, aesthetic surgery,  and other health-related professions published by the Faculty of Medicine, Universitas Airlangga, Surabaya, Indonesia. This journal has collaborated with the Indonesian Collegium of Plastic Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery (PERAPI) on the cooperation of management and publication of the journal. Jurnal Rekonstruksi dan Estetik is published twice a year, every June and December.

Jurnal Rekonstruksi dan Estetik focuses in publishing original articles, case reports, review articles, literature reviews, and meta-analyses on the latest medical sciences. The scope of Jurnal Rekonstruksi dan Estetik includes burn and wound, hand surgery, microsurgery, oncoplastic, craniofacial, external genitalia reconstruction, and aesthetics. The article was written in Bahasa and English, but starting in December 2022, the article could be written in English. Contributors for Jurnal Rekonstruksi dan Estetik are researchers, lecturers, plastic surgeons, and students that focus on reconstruction and aesthetic latest development in Southeast Asia and developing countries.
