Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format. Submission with other formats of document such as PDF or EPUB will lead to immediate reject.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end. Also, follow the rules of the templates either in Indonesian or English. Not following the templates would have gained high probability of rejection.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  • If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.

INSTRUCTION FOR AUTHOR

Manuscript Preparation, Writing Guidelines and Reference

PREPARATION

General requirements:

a)    Jurnal Layanan Masyarakat contains scientific writings from the results of community service in Indonesian and English.

b)    Manuscripts/papers must be original and have never been published. If accepted for publication in the Jurnal Layanan Masyarakat, it may not be published in other magazines or media.

c)    The text does not contain plagiarism. The editorial board will immediately reject texts that indicate plagiarism.

d)    The submission and publication process is free, at no additional cost.

e)    Manuscripts that have been written under the JLM GUIDELINES (IND) (in MS Word format, use JLM article template) must be submitted via OJS (Open Journal System) in the journal-JLM portal (https:// e-journal.unair.ac.id / hh ) select only one procedure. Then, register as one of the authors, readers, or reviewers through the "Register".

WRITING GUIDELINES

Format

1)    The length of the manuscript must not exceed 12 pages of 1.5 spaces, including text, all tables, figures, notes, and attachments intended for publication. The manuscript is written in 1 column format, A4 paper, in accordance with the template that can be downloaded in MS Word format. A text that exceeds 15 pages will be returned without review.

2)    Writing techniques: • In the body of the manuscript, avoid using dots, alphabets, or numbering as follows:

3)    Manuscripts are written in essay format, no numbering between chapters/sections is allowed.

4)    Tables and graphs must be referred to in the discussion.

5)    Make tables or graphs as simple as possible. The table must contain a table of numbers, titles, notes, and information if needed (under the table to explain abbreviations in the table). Use only horizontal lines, vertical lines are not allowed.

STRUCTURE OF THE MANUSCRIPTS

1)    Title (consisting of a maximum of 15 words that describe the article, written in two languages: English and Indonesian) (Times New Roman 12, Bold 1 space)

2)    Meanwhile, the author's name (without an academic degree), and the author's affiliation address, must be written with the middle text alignment also under the article title. The author must provide two line spaces between the title and the author's name. Then, the space between the author's affiliate address and the abstract title is one space. The responsible writer, correspondence writer, or the corresponding author must be written first and then followed by the second, third, and so on. Communication regarding the revision of articles and final statements will be informed via email to the correspondent author only. If there is more than one author, the author's name must be written separately by commas (,). If the author's name consists of at least two words, the first name cannot be abbreviated. If the author's name is only one word, it must be written as-is. However, the online version will be written in two words with the same name repeatedly for the purpose of indexing metadata. 3)    Abstract: Abstract consists of 150-350 words, written in one paragraph, Abstract contains a brief description of the problems and objectives of Community Service, the methods used, and the results of Community Service. The emphasis of abstract writing is mainly on the results of Community Service. Abstract written in Indonesian and English. Abstract typing is done with a single space with margins that are narrower than the right and left margins of the main text. Keywords need to be included to describe the main points of Community Service activities and the basic terms that underlie the implementation of Community Service. Keywords can be single words or compound words. The number of keywords is 3-5 words. Keywords are written in alphabetical order from left to right. (Times New Roman 11, space 1).

4)    Manuscript content contains the following sections:

  • Introduction (Introductory section mainly contains: (1) problems that underlie Community Service activities, (2) insights and problem-solving plans, (3) formulation of Community Service objectives, (4) summary of theoretical studies relating to problems to be solved or overcome through Community Service activities In this section sometimes also contains expectations for the results and benefits of Community Service, the length of the introduction is about 1-2 pages and typed with 1 space.
  • Community Service Methods, This section explains how Community Service is carried out. The main material of this section are (1) Community Service plan; (2) Targeted Community Service Community); and (3) Methods and instruments of Community Service; For Community Service that uses tools and materials, it is necessary to write the specifications of the tools and materials. Tool specifications describe the sophistication of the tools used while the material specifications describe the types of materials used. It is best to avoid organizing writing into "sub-title children" in this section.
  • Results and Discussion, This section is the main part of the results of Community Service and is usually the longest part of an article. The Community Service Results presented in this section are "whole" and "clean" results describing the results obtained from Community Service activities such as increasing knowledge, abilities, skills, and so on. The results obtained are also related to the projected changes, for example, there will be an increase in the income of people who have participated in Community Service activities and so on.
  • The discussion in the article aims to: (1) answer the problem formulation; (2) shows the findings obtained based on the Community Service activities that have been carried out; (3) interpreting or interpreting the results obtained; (4) linking the results of Community Service with ideal or expected conditions; and (5) modification of Community Service activities in accordance with needs. In answering the formulation of the problem of Community Service, it must be followed by conclusions explicitly. Interpretation of the results is done by using logic and ideal/normative references. The conditions in the field are related to previous community service outcomes or expected ideal conditions. In an article, sometimes it can not be avoided organizing the writing of the results of Community Service in the "subtitle children". The following is how to write the organizing format, which shows how to write special things that cannot be separated from an article.
  • Place the table label above the table, while the image label at the bottom of the image. Write down specific tables, for example, Table 1, when referring to a table.
  • Writing the reference citation by using a running note (body note) by writing it in brackets (Author Name Year of publication: p.).
  • Closing, containing Conclusions and Recommendations, the Conclusions present a summary of the description of the results and discussion, referring to the purpose of Community Service. Based on these two points, new ideas are developed which are the essence of the findings of Community Service.
  • Suggestion. Suggestions are based on the findings of Community Service discussed. Suggestions can refer to practical actions, the development of new theories, and/or continued Community Service.
  • Acknowledgments, If you need to thank certain parties, for example, Community Service sponsors, state clearly and concisely, avoid flowering expressions of thanks.
  • Bibliography (References): contains all Bibliography is a list of papers read by the author in preparing the article and then used as a reference. In scientific articles, Bibliography must exist as a complement to references and reference sources. The bibliography is arranged alphabetically without serial numbers. Abbreviations of magazines/journals based on the procedures used by each journal. Typed 1 (one) space The following is an example of writing a bibliography in a row for Text Books and Journals. Bibliography writing follows the rules in the Turabian Style, with examples of Family Name, Year, Title¸ City of Publisher: Publisher (Hans, J.D., 2018. Creating a Formal Publication. Boston: Proseware).

Reference

Reference writing using the Turabian style (author-date style). If citations and bibliography are compiled manually, referrals are written in a manner such as the following example:
