Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan/JIPK (Scientific Journal of Fisheries and Marine) was first established in early 2006 using the name "Berkala Ilmiah Perikanan," under the Prody of Aquaculture, Faculty of Veterinary, Universitas Airlangga with non-accredited status. At the end of April 2009, the journal changed its name to " Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK; English: Scientific Journal of Fisheries and Marine) under Faculty of Fisheries and Marine", which was fully published and accessible on the website or online accessibility.

The JIPK development and changes from 2006 to 2018 are as follows:

-Berkala Ilmiah Perikanan (print out version since 2006-2009 with ISSN:1907-5634)

- Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) (online version since 2009-2017 with ISSN:2085-5842)

- Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) (online journal system (OJS) version since the April 2017 edition with e-ISSN: 2528-0759 (Online)p-ISSN: 2085-5842 (Print)ISSN International Centre)

-Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan/JIPK (Scientific Journal of Fisheries and Marine) was first published in 2009 as Volume 1, Issue 1, April 2009. JIPK is published twice a year, every April and November.

 

Since Volume 9 No. 1, April 2017, JIPK has registered all publications to CrossRef to get a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) to increase accessibility and protect against plagiarism. For citation purposes of the November 2018 edition, readers have to use the DOI as stated in the document (How to Cite an article's JIPK).

Starting from Volume 10 No. 2, November 2018 edition, JIPK has added new regulations of journal policy, a new document template, instructions for the author, and a new layout style:

The reason to  revise this editorial policy is to follow international editorial policies in improving Jurnal ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) in order to get more international indexing

 2. Jurnal ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) has New layout style

Jurnal ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) decides to have a new layout style in published manuscripts, add two columns where before it was a single column, add the figure, table, title, and abstract in Indonesian and English, and follow the international journal trend

 3. Jurnal ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) has a New Document template

Jurnal ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) decides to have a new document template and cover page to equating writing and regulation standards, and following the international journal trend

4. Check plagiarism by Turnitin

From volume 11, issue 1, every manuscript submitted to JIPK will be screened by the Turnitin Program.

5. Jurnal Ilmu Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) has been accredited as a 2nd Grade Scientific Journal (Sinta 2, Peringkat 2) by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia since 4 April 2019. The Update Accreditation Number: SK 10/E/KPT/2019 is valid until April 4th, 2022.

The editorial and administrative management, as well as the physical appearance of the journal itself, were improved. Written entirely in full English, it is published in Vol 11 No 2, November 2019. JIPK informs its readers with valuable findings in fisheries and marine research, not only those conducted by researchers from other institutions nationwide but also from abroad. Continuous improvement in quality by, for example, improving editorial and author diversity, is a priority. To prove its capacity at the global level, a partnership with an outstanding worldwide medical information publisher, such as EBSCO, has also been established.

6. Starting with Vol 12 no 1 (April 2020), JIPK will be fully published in English and can be accessed on the website or through online accessibility.

In regards to the internationalization process, all the manuscripts of the Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) is published in English (started from Issue November 2019). Therefore, we encourage authors to submit their manuscripts in English that is grammatically correct, logical, clear, and concise.

7.  Since December 07, 2021 officially JIPK has been indexed by Elsevier Scopus and now JIPK was ranked by Scimago Journal Ranks (SJR), is ascribed an impact factor of approximately 0.19.

8. On January 24, 2022, JIPK was officially accredited as a 1st Grade Scientific Journal (SINTA 1, Peringkat 1) by the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education of Indonesia

9 On February 7, 2023, JIPK posted an announcement regarding the Graphical Abstract.

This regulation has been in effect since Volume 15, No. 2.

10. Referring to the increasing quality of our indexing, we hereby announce that the APC (publication fee) will be raised to USD 200 starting from Volume 16 No. 2.

Manuscripts that have been accepted and are included in the next issue will be subjected to a new APC regulation. We have notified authors since January 22nd, 2024, so that authors are aware of this new regulation and can prepare well.

11. Enhancing Quality and Accelerating Research Dissemination: JIPK Moves To Triannual Publication

The Jurnal Ilmiah Perikanan dan Kelautan (JIPK) has undergone significant developments in its publication schedule to enhance the dissemination of high-quality research in fisheries and marine sciences.

  • Since 2006: JIPK was founded as a scholarly journal dedicated to publishing research in fisheries and marine sciences.
  • Until 2024: The journal was published biannually, with two issues per year in April and November.
  • Starting 2025: To align with international publication standards and improve accessibility, JIPK increased its publication frequency to three times a year (February, June, and October). 

Rationale for the Change

This transition aims to:
Accelerate research dissemination by reducing publication delays.
Enhance global visibility and impact for authors and contributors.
Improve peer-review efficiency through an optimized editorial workflow.
Align with international journal standards to support Scopus and WoS indexing.
