Faktor Ibu yang Berhubungan dengan Terjadinya Bayi BBLR di Puskesmas Situbondo Tahun 2020: Studi Data Sekunder Register Kohort

Authors

Background: Low Birth Weight (LBW) is still a cause of serious Infant Mortality Rate (IMR) problems, especially during the perinatal period. The health and nutrition of pregnant women plays a major role in determining the state of nutrition since they are still in the womb. Factors that cause LBW babies include maternal factors.

Objectives: This study aims to determine maternal factors (mother's age, parity, pregnancy distance, maternal nutritional status (KEK), maternal Hb levels) associated with LBW infants at Situbondo Health Center in 2020.

Methods: This research is a type quantitative with a case control approach that uses secondary data from the cohort register. The study was conducted in March 2022. The total sample was 82 consisting of 41 case samples, namely LBW infants and 41 control samples of non-LBW infants. Data analysis using Chi-Square test.

Results: The study showed that there was a significant relationship between maternal Hb levels and the occurrence of LBW babies (p = 0.026; OR = 3.088; 95%; CI = 1.240-7.692). Meanwhile, the variables of maternal age, parity, gestational distance and maternal nutritional status (KEK) did not have a significant relationship with the occurrence of LBW babies.

Conclusions: Pregnant women who experience Hb levels are at greater risk of having a LBW baby, when compared to pregnant women who experience Hb levels are not at risk. It is recommended that pregnant women routinely carry out pregnancy checks at least 6 times, regularly consume Fe tablets, pay attention to eating patterns and beliefs of pregnant women.
